The Ligue 1 outfit, who finished their 18/19th Ligue 1 campaign in 10th, knew they had to rely on their youthful prospects.
In the clubs recent history, they’ve managed to develop some top players in the likes Sylvain Wiltord, Yoann Gourcuff, Yann M’Villa and Ousmane Dembele are just a few of the names that have come through the clubs ranks to walk out at Roazhon Park in the red & black of Rennes.
And it would seem the club from Brittany have managed to craft a gem that destined for the very top of European football in Eduardo Camavinga.
The 16 year old sensation Eduardo Camavinga, is already marking his territory in Ligue 1 for Rennes. The young talent became a record breaker in their impressive victory against PSG on the second matchday of the Ligue1 19/20 campaign. He contributed to Rennes’s second and matching winning goal, providing a wonderful assist for Roman Del Castillo. The midfielder was pivotal in everything good in Rennes home victory, recording a passing accuracy of 98%.
Rennes boss Julien Stephan said: ” He played a match, indeed, like the whole team – very interesting. We are talking to him. He is someone who is also very well-constructed intellectually, who knows how to question himself, who knows how to ask the right questions. Many of the pros have taken him under their wing, because he is very respectful in the dressing room and very attentive to their advice. He blossomed with us this summer. ”
The Angolan born teen was already a history breaker before the assist, as he became the first player born after January 1, 2002 to start a game in Europe’s top five leagues, when he played for Rennes against Monaco, a game that ended 2-2 in May.
I believe it will only be a matter of time until, the big clubs straight flexing their muscles. With reports already suggesting that Arsenal’s Unai Emery has been impressed and is interested in a potential swoop for the youngster. I’m sure after witnessing the players quality first handed PSG would also love to added him to their already impressive set of midfielders.
